Production Plan

The costumes for this music video for the band will be the kids school uniform to reflect the youngness of the band and the rock stereotype. It is also a reference to the band ACDC, as Angus Young who is known for wearing his school boy outfits during his performances. But using the uniform is also another way to keep the production cost to a minimum.
(Angus Young, ACDC)
ShootingFilming for this music video will have to take place after school, as the members of the band have to go to their lessons and I can not pull them out of the school. The only time to film the performance shots is after school on a Friday, as this is when the band perform, and the music room is available to use.
Film Equipment
I have already obtained camera to take RECCE shots, two camcorders to gain a range of different shots, however I will need to book out a tripod to ensure the steadiness and quality of shots. So this needs to be taken into consideration when producing a production schedule and filming as I need to bring the tripod into school, along with my other filming equipment.
Props
For the performance scene I will not have to bring any props as the drums, guitars, bass, microphones will all be at school in the music room. This will make it easier for me, as I do not have to organize hiring any music equipment for the band and adding to the expenses.
Weather
Weather does not affect my production plan/schedule as a large majority of the scenes are shot inside, the school building. I can always change those few scenes to be shot inside, if necessary due to extreme weather.
Artist
The artist will be a band called the Bitter Avengers, which represents the B/A logo for Bexleyheath Academy so this fits in well with their uniform. There are 5 members of the band. The lead singer (male), lead guitarist (male), bassist (female), rhythm guitar (female), drummer (female). Having a mixture of male and female band members will not only attract the female gaze, but also the male gaze as well, as it is rare to have a female drummer.

Research into Rock Genre
Rock music is a popular genre of music that was developed during and after the 1960s. It had roots in 1940s and 1950s rock and roll, and was heavily influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. Below I have collect a series of music videos I believe will influence me, during the creation of my music video, but also has influenced my artist. So with this extra research into the codes and conventions, will also enable me to gain a better understanding of the genre. However another benefit of this is also I can uses this research as basis so I can uses some intertexuality to reference the influential videos.
The above video was directed by David Grohl, the lead singer and guitarist of Foo Fighters. This video shows all the codes and conventions of a rock genre video. Including a performance at the end. However it is not taken so seriously, focusing on the 'stuff you' attitude that rockstars have towards society. A similar concept I am going to be trying to achieve in this music video. It also illustrate the image of learning to walk in society which is being used to driving. The narrative of the music video, doesn't illustrate the lyrics but it emphasis it creating a new meaning in the visuals. Voyeurism is not really used in this music video, but in the context of the notation of looking, it is like we are following him as he is walking.
This band is huge influence on my artist, and I have considered using some of the editing as intertextual reference in my music video. This was one of the music videos that kick started the music video industry, through its used of editing, and visuals techniques which emphasis they lyrics. It also contains a live performance which was traditional at the era.
The notion of looking as if we are following his journey to get to the performance, connotations to living life on the edge and never backing down from a challenge, which the visuals are trying to emphasis. Again there is a major influence of Live performance. There is also a focus on close ups of the lead.
This video goes against the visuals and lyrics. Intertexuality of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde. There is also intertexuality of the steam punk genre. There is a live performance, with close ups of the lead. A huge emphasis on the notation of looking, as if we the audience are given a privilege knowing how things took place with this murder and are smart as we know what is unfolding,

Production Journal 2
Last week we began storyboarding our ideas/concepts for our music video.Strain is starting to build up since I'm working on my own and I have to create at least +100 frames for the music video, with notes, create my digipak, finish my logo for the artist. Then cast and film the music video and then edit the whole sequence.
Unfortunately I haven't found anyone I know to be able to film, due to university commitments. So I'm going to have to go to the drama departments to find someone, then speak to the other media teachers who teach year 11, to ask them if they wanted to be in my production.
